Position Summary & Scope of Work
Data Center Technician perform 24x7 shifts for Data Centers. Handle incidents and ensure safety requirements are met. Monitor environmental, power and server hardware. Handle cabling tasks for copper and fiber. Control access into the data centers, ensure work permits and material gate passes are issued. Install equipment in racks and document changes.
Physical Set-up of all devices. Responsible for racking all servers and devices throughout the Data Center, including running all cable, power and KVM, and removing all the above when servers are decommissioned.
Responsible for all Windows/Linux servers break/fix throughout the Data Center when hardware failures occur by helping the system owners/proponents troubleshoot issues and sending the appropriate hardware in coordination with the Vendor.
Basic operating system installations and server configurations.
Proactive Monitoring and recording of facility security, HVAC, Fire Detection and Suppression Systems, Temperature, Humidity and critical power systems.
Ensuring that the Data Center is secure at all times. DC technician will ensure all visitors are signed in and escorted at all times while in the Data Centers.
Perform other various misc. operational duties as per the SOP approved by the Data Center Lead.
Copper and Fiber cabling as per TIA standards (TIA 942)
Preparing the end of shift reports for the Data Center.
Interface with vendors such as HP, Dell, SUN and Supermicro on the implementation of hardware/systems.
Willing to work a flexible shift including nights and weekends, and participate in an on call rotation.
Participates and performs any other tasks that are assigned by upper management as required.
Qualification & Experience
The candidate must have a BS or diploma in computer science engineering, IT, electrical engineering or mechanical engineering is required.
Moreover, the candidate must have minimum 3 years of IT experience with at least 2 years in Data Centers.
Competencies & Additional Requirement
The candidates must be competent with the below procedures and process.
Should be able to co-ordinate the day to day activities and preventive maintenance with the facility team and IT staff as per the instructions of the Data Center Lead
Should have good experience with communications circuits and Ethernet cabling (structured copper cabling and fiber optic cables)
Intermediate knowledge of Windows server and Linux configuration and troubleshooting.
Proficient in MS Office.
Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical components like Online Double Conversion UPS, medium/low voltage circuits and chilled water-cooled HVAC systems.
Additionally it will be a plus factor should the candidates have an experience with APC infrastructure but not mandatory.
