About HAKA
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to lead and support incident investigations and fault analysis activities across our transmission network. This role is critical for ensuring system reliability, enhancing asset performance, and minimizing future risks by systematically analyzing incidents, identifying root causes, and driving corrective actions. You will work closely with asset management, engineering, maintenance, operations, and protection teams to uphold operational excellence and meet regulatory and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead comprehensive investigations of incidents, faults, and failures involving high-voltage transmission assets (substations, transformers, lines, cables).
• Perform technical root cause analyses using structured methodologies (e.g., RCA, FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis).
• Analyze event records, protection system data, SCADA logs, and physical evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events.
• Coordinate the collection, preservation, and analysis of evidence following incidents.
• Prepare detailed investigation reports, including findings, root causes, contributing factors, and corrective/preventive recommendations.
• Review and analyze system disturbances and equipment failures to identify systemic reliability risks.
• Recommend design improvements, operational changes, or maintenance actions based on fault analysis outcomes.
• Work with protection and control teams to verify correct relay operations and protection coordination during events.
• Participate in incident review boards, audits, and technical committees.
• Communicate investigation findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior management.
• Track implementation of recommended actions and verify their effectiveness over time.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by integrating lessons learned into asset management and maintenance programs.
• Ensure investigations comply with regulatory, safety, and operational standards.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• At least 10 years of relevant experience focusing on Asset Management, Maintenance & Reliability, System Design, Protection Engineering, CAPEX (greenfield & brownfield) planning, and other disciplines related to electrical power systems.
• Expertise in high-voltage transmission equipment and protection systems.
• Proven experience conducting root cause analyses, incident investigations, or forensic fault analysis.
• Proficiency with disturbance analysis software and protection event recorders.
• Solid understanding of power system stability, fault current behavior, and relay coordination principles.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
• Fluent in English (Arabic is an advantage).
Preferred Certifications
• Certified Root Cause Analyst (e.g., TapRooT, Apollo RCA) – advantage.
• Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) – advantage.
• ISO 55001 Asset Management awareness or lead auditor training – advantage.
• Power System Protection Certification (or equivalent specialization).
Personal Attributes
• High attention to technical and operational detail.
• Strong critical thinking and analytical problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to remain objective and calm under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal skills to manage multi-disciplinary investigation teams.
• Results-driven mindset with commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
