About HAKA
Basic Function
This role will work under the supervision of “Mechanical Supervisor” and provide assistance and resolution when mechanical or engineering problems are encountered to be familiar with the inspection, diagnosis, evaluation, and repair & maintenance of various heavy equipment machinery.
Scope
• To ensure that all terminal requirements in respect of the mechanical aspects of terminal equipment (RTG, Spreader, reach stacker, Empty Handler, etc.) are met and to maintain the highest standards of work quality and throughput consistent with the availability of resources, also to identify problem areas and advise his superiors
accordingly.
• Additionally, and as required to repair and maintain all the equipment within the terminal.
Description
Maintenance execution & failure rectification:
1. Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
2. Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
3. Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
4. Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
5. Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
6. Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
7. Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometres and gauges.
8. Disassemble and inspect motors to locate defective parts, using mechanic's hand tools and gauges.
9. Start motors and monitor performance for signs of malfunctioning, such as smoke, excessive vibration, or misfiring.
10. Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
11. Repair engine mechanical equipment, such as power tilts, bilge pumps, or power take-offs.
12. Inspect and repair or adjust propellers or propeller shafts.
13. Document inspection and test results and work performed or to be performed.
14. Replace parts, such as gears, magneto points, piston rings, or spark plugs, and reassemble engines.
15. Adjust fuel mixtures, electrical point settings, or timing while motors are running in water-filled test tanks.
Cleaning and housekeeping:
1. Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment, vehicles, Genset and facilities.
2. Clean the container based on operation requirements.
3. Complete the required cleaning & housekeeping for the Genset after and during service work.
16. Greasing and lubrication of mechanical components and ropes and cleaning the area and the mechanical components before, during and after the work.
Health & Safety Awareness and Coordination:
1. Ensure proper usage and effective housekeeping of the workshop, spare parts, materials, tools, facilities, and equipment including PPEs.
2. Comply strictly with environmental, safety & health standards and practices in line with the company’s policies, rules, regulations, and work procedures at all times.
3. Execute the risk assessment’s control measures and apply them all on-site all the time.
4. Maintain tidiness and cleanliness of workshop facilities and all equipment thereby creating a safe and healthy work environment.
5. Comply strictly with environmental, safety & health standards and practices in line with the company’s policies, rules, regulations, and work procedures at all times.
6. Execute & monitor the site work, stop unsafe act immediately and update the management if any additional control measures are required.
General
7. Collaborate with Mechanical technicians/engineers or other personnel to identify, define, or solve developmental
problems.
8. Read and understand the OEM recommendations/service guides to find information needed to perform repairs.
9. On-call duty upon any emergency at the Terminal. (Perform shift duty to cope up with the business requirement.)
10. Any other ad hoc works assigned by the Supervisor on time.
11. Propose a cost-effective solution for maintenance & repair works, modifications for equipment and facilities to
keep them productive, durable and protected from damage, etc.
12. Driving/operating a forklift, equipment, man lift, or vehicle whenever necessary for work related to maintenance activity.
13. Following and assisting to fill up information into the work order sheet in an accurate manner.
14. Support the reporting manager with official assignments from time to time.
15. Ensure compliance with Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures.
Requirements
A. EDUCATION:
• Diploma in Mechanical/Automotive/Mechatronics engineering
• Basic Computer Skills
B. EXPERIENCE:
• Min 7 years of working experience with a background in heavy equipment mechanics with experience.
• Skilled in Genset, Transmissions, Wire ropes, Sheaves, Tyres, Motors, gearboxes, Hydraulics, and Pneumatic systems.
• The ability to work with CMMS, should have basic computer skills.
• Should be able to work in Harsh working conditions.
• Should be able to work at height.
C. LANGUAGE:
• Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English Language, Multilingual: multiple language skills are preferable.
